This antique African tribal three-legged or tripod stool is hand carved from a single piece of wood with tin adornment. Whether the tin is there for strengthening or decoration is not known but it certainly adds to its character. In researching this stool I find that it could come from Ethiopia or Kenya. In Kenya and the Kamba culture these stools were for the elderly men who carried them about as personal seating. In expected antique condition for tribal utilitarian art. Please examine photos closely. Pip, our shop puppy, gives it her approval!
