Handsome and graceful. Two words I would use to describe this fabulous late 19th century Victorian chair. You can see the Victorian romantic influences in its curvaceous, sinewy lines. Comprised of a beautiful carved walnut frame with a back shape that is a combination of balloon back and shield back, lovely cabriole legs, low sloping arms, and serpentine front rail. The front legs retain their original casters but the back legs are stationary. This chair is very reserved as Victorian chairs go and stately with very little ornamentation. The blue-gray ribbed upholstery is nicely tailored but has seen some use. Whether you leave it as is or have it recovered, you should make this classic and wonderful antique chair yours.
