Chinese Ink and Color on Paper Framed Art a Monumental Pair

These pieces are incredibly stunning and make a very big statement wherever they hang. The colors, though muted, are oh so beautiful. The blue-green of the celadon backgrounds and the soft tones of the reds, yellows, and blues, are highlighted skillfully with the use of white and just the right amount of black accent. One scene depicts, what we feel, are three Mongolian warriors and horses at the foot of a serene waterfall. One warrior is mounted while the other two are dismounted and grazing their horses. The warriors and horses are magnificently and colorfully outfitted. The second scene depicts Chinese peoples admiring, riding, and what looks like bathing an absolutely charming elephant. This all takes place beside a babbling brook. Both pieces are framed beautifully in a very wide distressed and gilded traditional picture molding with blue-green accent, which brings out the color in the artwork.
