Handsome executive chair by Charles Pollock for Knoll. Comprised of brown leather, aluminum band, chrome shaft, black plastic arms, and a 4-prong stainless base with casters. Wonderful vintage condition with some tightening of the buttons as they were a bit loose and some wear in the leather as you would expect with a vintage piece. It has a nice, aged patina. Description

Without a doubt, this is JUST the office chair you have been looking for! I mean, what’s not to love about it? First off, it is designed by the iconic Charles Pollock…. for the ELITE Knoll Furniture and its original tag is intact and is dated January 19, 1981. As if that’s not enough to entice you, let’s talk about the classic 4-prong base with stainless arms and painted black sides, gorgeous casters, and cylindrical chrome shaft! The bucket style seat is wrapped in brown leather with a button detail on the seat and back and black plastic arms. The buttons were a bit loose so they have all been tightened and the leather has a fabulous, aged patina that can only be created by natural wear and the hands of time. The entire bucket seat is surrounded by an aluminum band that was described by Charles Pollock as “rim technology.” Which he created to hold the entire design together both structurally and visually. This exemplary office chair is both stylish and comfortable. Just what you need for your new home office or as an extra seat in your living or family room, whether you have a mid-century modern home, an industrial loft, modern country, or mountain ranch home.

The Pollock Executive Chair was designed for Knoll in 1963 and is among the best-selling executive chairs in the history of office furniture design. Pollock’s connection with Knoll began after he designed a chair in 1963 specifically to introduce them. He remembered… “I had a crummy little apartment on West 25th Street starting in the 1940s,” Pollock once stated in a Bauhaus interview, “With hardly anything to build anything, I built this damn chair with my bare hands. One day, I carried it on an elevator–it’s heavy! –and I was getting off the elevator, and I knocked Florence Knoll down! I just left; I was so embarrassed. I told my psychiatrist, and he said, ‘This is perfect! Now you write her a letter and you say you were so embarrassed and how much you love Knoll and how you worked so hard on this chair.’ And she hired me.” And that’s the beginning of Knoll and the infamous chair designer, Charles Pollock. In addition to designing for Knoll and his Pollock Executive chair collection, he is also well-known for his designs for Bernhardt and the CP Lounge Collection. The Pollock Executive chair for Knoll features what Pollock described as “rim technology” which is the use of a single aluminum band around the chairs perimeter to hold the design together both structurally, and visually. Fifty years after its introduction, the Pollock Chair continues to exude timeless elegance in any home or office.

We absolutely LOVE this Executive Armchair and surely you must too…you MUST make it yours!!
