Description

Superbly done in the style of Le Corbusier’s LC3 Grand Comfort sofa and produced by Alphaville Design circa 2007, this design classic should be yours. Comprised of a flawlessly made chromed steel tube frame with cushions upholstered in Italian top grain leather. The original LC3 was designed in 1928-1929 by Le Corbusier with a little help from his friends Pierre Jenneret and Charlotte Perriand. Well, according to some, he never designed a sofa. He never intended for his original sketches to be made into a sofa at all and the original producer, Heidi Webber, never produced a sofa; however, in 1978 Cassina began producing them. In fact, Le Corbusier has been quoted as saying “Chairs are architecture, sofas are bourgeois”! Although the LC3 was designed in the early 20th century it was not produced in mass until many years later, mid-20th century, after he had become famous. And, although Le Corbusier shunned the sofa, we mavens of 20th century design adore it; so, regardless of who produced this exact one, it is fabulous and will look awesome wherever you decide to use it.
