Did you get a good gander at these gorgeous gourds??? Actually, they’re vintage South American Tribal gourd bowls to be more specific, and aren’t they FANTASTIC?? We certainly think so!! Gourd art is an ancient tradition in Africa and Asia as well as among indigenous people of America including the highland people of Peru, Navajo, Hopi nations of the American Southwest, and the Nuxalk and Haida nations of British Columbia. Gourd crafting and painting has evolved from early hand carvings to modern day use, by some, of electric wood burners and high-speed pen-shaped rotary tools that can be used to inscribe almost any design. We have two sizes in this set one larger tilted bowl with a “perfectly imperfect” rough cut rim and one smaller tilted bowl also with a “perfectly imperfect” rough cut rim and a pointy lip or handle on one side. The undersurfaces are a natural-colored gourd with purposefully distressed dark brown hand carved floral designs and Tribal details, and they are incredible! And although we have them placed next to a soup can in a few photos, we certainly don’t recommend using them for eating purposes! They are best used as magnificent art & décor among other Tribal pieces or highlighted by themselves on a shelf, accent table, or in a display cabinet. Whatever way you display them, these gourds have got it goin’ ON! Don’t let these phenomenal Tribal gourd bowls pass you by! Make them YOURS!!
