I was so excited when I was offered this swivel reclining lounge chair! And now, I can offer it to you. It has been a puzzle, but I think we have figured it out. Well, at least we have an option. It was designed by Milo Baughman for James, Inc. Articulate Seating and retains its original fabric tag. It also has a tag from Design Forum, a closed interior design business here in Topeka, my home town. And this tag gives us an order and delivery date in 1974. However, James, Inc. was owned by the man, Thayer Coggin, and became the company, Thayer Coggin, sometime mid-1950s. So, how does a chair that was ordered and delivered in 1974 come from James, Inc. Articulate Seating? We believe that James Inc. Articulate Seating must have remained a “collection” for Thayer Coggin. And, we are still researching this to find out for sure. We will amend this listing when we discover the truth! But all that aside, this is an incredible chair!! It is a swivel chair, a rocking chair, a lounge chair, and a recliner! All in one! The totality of the chair is covered in a wonderful 1970s stripe that is in beautiful condition. The back is horizontally channeled providing fabulous comfort. It is all mounted on a round walnut veneered base. Its been said that Milo Baughman and Thayer Coggin’s partnership was the most influential partnership of the mid-20th century regarding furnishings……I tend to agree. Make this fabulous chair yours.
