I can so imagine this set cantilevered armchairs around a fabulous dining table! They are made in the style of the Cesca chair which was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928 but these are made by Virco circa 1970s-1980s. I can attest to the comfort of this style chair. In my opinion, it is the most comfortable dining chair around as we have had a set of Cesca chairs as our personal dining chairs since the 1970s. Their design blends with and complements oh so many design styles; from mid-century modern to industrial and from modern, modern country, or rustic to primitive or boho chic and especially Bauhaus, streamline modern, and Art Moderne. You think of a style and they will go with it!
Virco Manufacturing Company was officially founded in 1950 by Julian Virtue but its roots run deeper and are tied to the company, U. S. Plating, founded in the 1920s by Julian and his brother, Philip Virtue. Virco is a product of this original company which the brothers founded after experimenting with chrome plating in their backyard. Virco, throughout its long history, has produced outstanding furniture products and has grown to be the current leading supplier of furniture for the classroom.
If you need dining chairs…you need to make these yours!
