$3,495
Stunning vintage mid-century modern sculpted cone table lamps by Arthur Jacobs for Modeline. Comprised of korina wood, brass stems, and original plastic cone shades. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. They have been reworked & refinished. The base and all brass pieces have been reconditioned by polish and clear coated. New cords and plugs. We have repaired one shade on the side & there is new trim on the top & bottom of the shades. There is a darkening from age to both shades; but we thought it best to preserve the originals rather than replace. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-20th Century.

LET THERE BE LIGHT!!! But not just ANY light… This is a STUNNING pair of sculpted cone table lamps designed by Arthur Jacobs for Modeline! They are comprised of three sculpted vertical korina wood arms holding their original tapered conical plastic lamp shade with gold flakes and brown trim on the top and bottom, supported by sculpted struts on a triangle base with beautiful brass stems. They. Are. AMAZING!!! They have a distinctive design which includes a blend of mid-century modern, atomic, mod, & biomorphic styles. They are going to be fabulous on a pair of nightstands in your bedroom, adorning the side tables next to the sofa in the living room, or on either end of a console or sofa table in your entry or dining room! Or, if you don’t like things to be quite so symmetrical, it would be perfectly fine to split up the pair and use them in different spots. This pair of table lamps is sure to bring just the right ambience to an otherwise dull or dark space.
Modeline of California Lighting was founded in 1946 in Los Angeles, CA by George Rapport, Clair Killen, and Bernard Roberts. They specialized in creating and designing distinctive sculptural mid-century modern, atomic, space age, Scandinavian, and contemporary style lamps and lighted furniture with high quality woods and materials. The company employed several iconic designers such as John Keal, Arthur Jacobs, Jack Haywood, Martin Aakervik, Ben Gurule, Martin Borenstein, Bill Dorff, and others. They consistently produced fixtures and lighted furnishings with the highest standards of design quality and craftsmanship. Modeline items were available at high end retailers throughout the United States. The company closed in 1981.
There is limited information on designer Arthur Jacobs however we know that he was from San Francisco, and he worked for Modeline from 1951 until 1977. He was educated as an Industrial Designer and won a number of awards including the California Design Eleven Award for Design Excellence for two of his different Modeline designs. Mr. Jacobs passed away, but he left behind a sought-after collection of magnificent lighting.
Impeccable design, unmatchable quality, and mid-century modern MAGNIFICENCE! This pair of sculpted cone table lamps has it ALL!! Don’t wait around in the dark… make them YOURS!!!!!
