Oh, my goodness this is the epitome of a gorgeous piece of wood furniture! Just look at that walnut book matched veneer. This incredible cabinet was created by the Barzilay Furniture Manufacturing Company who specialized in building high end high quality beautiful stereo equipment cabinets for audiophiles. This is one of those entertainment cabinets. It is comprised of four doors, two pairs, with the upper pair being taller than the lower pair. There is a black accent band at the very top of the cabinet, between the sets of doors, and at the bottom, which sets the walnut wood off handsomely. The upper doors open to reveal four sections with three shelves: one being adjustable. And the lower set open to reveal a large storage area. The upper compartment has built-in lighting under the bottom shelf. This incredible cabinet will be the perfect place of honor for your audio video equipment. Of course, if you are not an audio video aficionado, it will be perfect for any kind of storage and look incredible while doing so. It would be an amazing storage armoire in your bedroom for all those sweaters or shoes; in your office for the printer, files, and supplies; in the dining room for linens, tableware, or centerpieces; or in your living or family room for games and snuggly blankets!
Barzilay Furniture Manufacturing Co. was founded in the late 1940s by Ira S. Barzilay. They were best known for their production of magnificent stereo equipment cabinets for audiophiles and for mid-century modern wall units. Many of their cabinets and furniture were shipped in pieces to the end users who assembled the pieces themselves. They operated out of Gardena, California until 1986.
Ira (Spiro) Barzilay was quite the renaissance man according to his obituary. He was born in New York in 1919 and passed in Palm Desert in 2005 at the age of 86. He was a child prodigy on the piano and, although not a key player, appeared in several episodes of “Our Gang” and “The Little Rascals” as well as a short film with child actress Shirley Temple titled “Dora’s Dunking Doughnuts”. He was a decorated war hero surviving the second day of landing at Normandy and overseeing the rebuilding of the Bridge at Remagen. After the war he founded Barzilay Furniture Manufacturing Co. and for 40 years operated it out of Gardena California until he closed its doors in 1986 so he could retire and pursue his boating and sailing hobby.
This storage armoire is beautiful, sophisticated, and made of the highest quality construction. You need to make it yours!
