Holy cow this is a fabulous rug!! It was designed and produced in 1998 by Kurt Meinecke and The Meinecke Collection exclusively for Herman Miller for the Home. It is a generous 8 feet wide by 11 feet long with a dazzling modernist abstract design. I have the original sales receipt from Centro Modern Furnishing who is the exclusive dealer in St. Louis for The Meinecke Collection, and they called it Frank Lloyd LIKE! Great description. It is comprised of hand tufted New Zealand wool with rectangular patches of pale neutral greens and a lavender on a light background accented with bold abstract circles and arches and angles in brighter bolder neutrals including black and a dot of red! Stunning beyond measure.
Artist and designer, Kurt Meinecke, founded The Meinecke Collection in 1993 in Chicago, Illinois. The collection expresses Kurt’s innovative use of color, form, and texture and every rug is a handmade original. Their rugs have been featured in many publications around the world and won many honors and design awards. In addition, their designs for The Herman Miller for the Home collections are considered beautiful examples of timeless design.
Kurt Meinecke learned about the arts early on in his life having a father who was both a printmaker and a commercial artist.
